hispanic heritage month

Join Urban Outfitters in honoring Hispanic influence, culture, and history with a month-long celebration featuring
creatives who represent the diverse backgrounds and rich traditions of the Hispanic community.

To kick-off the festivities, UO has teamed up with eight 8 creatives across fashion, art, music, and culinary disciplines to tell their unique brand stories through exclusive UO capsule collections.
The collections will feature original designs by Guava LA, Hermanos Koumori, Bueno, Rebecca Maria, Peralta Project, Pangea Sound, Chef Paola Velez, and Porto’s Bakery & Cafe.

Purchases from the UO Hispanic Heritage Collections support a donation of $30,000 to La Liga del Barrio, Philadelphia’s first Latino youth basketball league offering sports programs to
minorities across the city. For 22 years, La Liga del Barrio has provided children ages 6-18 the opportunity to develop sports and academic skills and are currently raising funds to build a
sports facility and community hub in the city.

Get to know the creatives behind the collections below and stay tuned for additional collaborations dropping later this month.

"My art tells a story of past and present inspiration from things such
as media, design, sports, and life events that impacted my creative
perspective as a Latino male growing up in Los Angeles. I come
from a family of painters and creatives which pushes me even further
to keep the tradition and further advancing it in a way that they could
not reach."

Andrew Martinez, founder of Guava LA, is a Guatemalan American and third-generation
airbrush artist whose Los Angeles upbringing influences his pop-culture designs. Andrew's
work has been featured in collaborations with musical artists such as Burna Boy and The
Grateful Dead. The 6-piece Guava LA assortment features new designs inspired by LA
Hispanic Culture, as well as a nod to his Guatemalan heritage, alongside an update to his
signature Palentero Shirt.

"For us as Latin’s, as Mexican’s, as Ecuadorian’s, it’s very important
to express ourselves and I have found that
running is a new way that I can connect with like-minded people. My inspirations come from
my daily life and I see running as not just an action, but a way of
self-expression."

An all-Mexican project born in 2018 in the heart of Mexico City, Hermanos Koumori matches
contemporary design to obsessions such as art, architecture, meditation, and most importantly,
running. The 4-piece collection will feature a graphic tee complete with a “Tree of Life”
screenprint - a common symbol of mysticism within Hispanic culture that Hermanos Koumori
uses to represent the path of runners, while the roots represent a firm belief in Hispanic history.
