UO Home: Setting the Table with @saintsoin

Lisa, aka @saintsoin, uses her Instagram account to showcase dreamy vanity and home setups. With an eye for bold floral arrangements and color coordination, Lisa is able to make any space look over-the-top luxurious. Since we're obsessed with everything she does, we asked her to put together a relatively simple tablescape to help us get our creative juices flowing this holiday season. Our takeaway? Big bouquets are a gamechanger.
Even if you're only cooking for yourself and a spouse this holiday season (or your 3-person pod), it's still fun to let your creativity run wild when you're setting the table. Lisa has a ton of inspo images on her Instagram page if you're looking to get artsy, but for this spread she focused on one oversized floral arrangement for the table. Work with complementary colors and neutral tones to ensure that everything vibes well together. The pastel pink of her flowers pops nicely next to the light greens and blues of her plates, but we can't say we're not tempted by this orange and hot pink bouquet as well.

Add in some crystal candles to your table setting to make it seem more luxurious and fancy, like the white-tablecloth dining experience we've all had to forego in 2020. When the candles are finished, you can even save the jars for storage or use them for pour-your-own candles.

Bonus: For the coolest looking flowers for a tablescape (used here by Lisa), search out amaranths. They're just so delightfully dramatic and will make any holiday table look that much better.

For dessert, let everyone choose their favorite mug and go to town making their own mug dessert. Arm yourself with 2-3 different recipes and let people have fun with it. When you're cooking in a tiny kitchen and can't commit to making a full-blown dessert when your oven is in use all day, microwavable mug treats are a simple solution around that. No, they're not going to win any awards, but it'll be a fun after-dinner activity for you and your guests. As long as you have a microwave, the possibilities can range from something as simple as hot chocolate to something a little more decadent, like a matcha cake. The three recipes Lisa used are here, here and here.
