Tell us about your background and why you started Pley Beauty!

I’ve been acting since I was a kid and grew up around makeup professionals in and out of makeup artists chairs. They mentored me a lot, really took me under their wing. I started it to experiment with high impact color that is also clean.

When did you first get into beauty and clean beauty specifically? I got into beauty a lot more in the last few years since developing Pley. I wanted to create products with skin loving ingredients that perform beautifully on the skin.

What excites you most about this partnership with Urban Outfitters?

I’ve shopped at Urban since I was kid. I would sample the glitter nail polishes in the store and it was always the epitome of cool for me. This is a big deal to me.

The collection is super playful and bright - what are some of your favorite products?

Our disco dust is the softest prettiest metallic glitters. It is rare to find an eco friendly glitter. I love having no guilt with my beauty products. Festival flush gives the prettiest rosy, dewy, flushed cheek. I am so in love with the color range.

Do you have any advice for those with sensitive skin who want to experiment with high impact products?

I would go with clean, soft products. Honestly, Pley is made to be skin friendly and the least harmful we can be in every way possible.

What are your go-to beauty essentials for summer?

A toner to prep and clean the skin, spot treatments, serums, tinted moisturizer with spf, a juicy lip, a crème blush, mascara.

How do you see make-up playing a part in self-expression?

Makeup is art. It is a way to communicate a part of yourself to people. I love getting to say something with my makeup before I even open my mouth.

What’s your favorite social platform to discover new beauty hacks?

TikTok really comes through but I find it everywhere. Insta and Pinterest too. I love organizing.

Can you speak more to Pley Beauty’s sustainability initiatives?

We designed for recyclability whenever possible. Our eyeshadow palettes are made out of 100% recycled materials and are refillable. We are also a plastic neutral brand. Which means whatever waste we create we equally clean up. We’ve partnered with Repurpose Global which I highly recommend checking out. The beauty industry generates so much waste and we didn’t want to be a part of that.
