Donni Davy, the mastermind behind all the iconic makeup looks on HBO's Euphoria, has teamed up with Face Lace to create a limited-edition collection of face decals. We met up with Donni herself to find out her process behind the designs, why blue mascara is so important to her (fun!), and how to apply the decals ourselves.

Tell us a bit about how you put these looks together on our models.

For the first look, I used both the large and the small sizes of the spiked decal, and I kind of combined them to make one big spiky arch on Beanie's eyelids. The cool thing about having the two different sizes and kind of arranging them together in one big arch is that you can control the curve to go with your own unique eyelid contour. So it's not already made, not assuming that it's one size fits all. The cool thing about these decals is that they're so customizable.

On Monica I wanted to show how you can use the smaller size of the spiked decals and do something really cute and minimal that totally amps your look up. But in sort of a subtle way. If wearing an iridescent decal with blue eyeshadow is subtle... And I think it totally can be! Why not?

Why did you choose these designs?

What I love about the spikes and the clouds is that they're so different, and the clouds kind of offer this ethereal, fantastical, head-in-the-clouds moment. And the spikes are like, your more fierce look that you would wear almost as armor to get through your tough day and be a bad bitch. You know? It's just necessary to have both spikes and clouds to fit your moods.

On season one of Euphoria, I did a look that was hand drawn clouds in white eyeliner. And it was really hard for me to get it the same each time. And I'm a makeup artist. So like, if that's hard for me I was thinking for all the people that are recreating this look, it must be hard and tricky. And people are taking a long time doing that. So, let's make something easier and fun that people with all different ranges of makeup skills can do and participate and just kind of stick on.

What's the best way to apply these decals?

The best way to apply these is to peel them off of their backing with your fingers. And then I like to sort of delicately place them where I think I want them to go, and I won't press them down fully until I've scooted them around and I know exactly where I want them to go. Once I'm happy with their placement, I'll press them down with my fingers. They're super easy to apply and to get an instantaneous look and amp your look up.

Even though I demoed the decals today with colorful eyeshadow looks, they're amazing paired on their own, just on a fresh face. You can be understated with them. If you want to wear them in a more minimal way, I would just wear them right on your skin. You don't even need to use eyeshadow and other products. They're really cool just as a minimal accent on your eyes.

Can you tell us about your love for blue mascara?

I use blue mascara because I love adding a pop of color that's not necessarily eyeshadow or eyeliner. And mascara is just an easy, quick way to do that.

Makeup allows us to try on different fantasy versions of ourselves. And I think it's so fun to use makeup to explore different facets of our personalities. I think it can be really therapeutic and also just uplifting to explore fantasy versions of ourselves. Period.
