Originally released in 1972, Michael Jackson's debut album, Got To Be There, was a follow-up to his success with the Jackson 5, stacked with 3 charting singles, a handful of covers and original material penned by the best songwriters in Motown ringleader Berry Gordy's arsenal. An aural illustration of Jackson's versatility as a singer, and a contrast to some of the more politically-charged tunes of the time (see Marvin Gaye's What's Going On or some of Stevie Wonder's more introspective works), Got To Be There is a piece of musical history. Available here on vinyl, encased in a full-color sleeve depicting the original album artwork.
