UO Body & Mind: Let's Talk Pleasure w/ Smile Makers
Being pleasure-positive and practising body positivity is something Smile Makers stand strongly for, but what does it all mean? Tori West, founder of BRICKS Magazine, who explored her love language, Self-Love, in our UO Shows Love campaign said “at BRICKS we choose to use Smile Makers as they put not only pleasure at the forefront, but education surrounding sex and wellness.” We wanted to find out more about our sexual wellbeing, self-love and understanding our bodies’ desires. To beat the taboo, we teamed up with Smile Makers to explore their pleasure-positive beliefs and discover the benefits of using their vibes.
Let's Talk Pleasure Positivity
Who are Smile Makers?
Smile Makers design sensual products for vulva owners using the latest research and science to produce body-safe vibrators. Known for their fun packaging and tongue ‘n’ cheek names, Smile Makers beats the taboo and encourages a space to understand and explore pleasure. They create a respectful environment and community to deliver modernised sex education and promote sexual wellness.
What does it mean to be pleasure-positive?
Whether it’s a distant memory or pencilled in your school timetable for next week, sex education was and can be an awkward one. From reproductive-driven biology lessons to penetrative-focused classes, vulva owners grow up in a world where sex and pleasure are rarely discussed in the same conversation. The feel-good potential aspect of our sexuality is left out despite the sexual health and mindful benefits that sexual pleasure can help. Smile Makers are here to change that, encouraging and educating vulva owners to understand their bodies through the use of body-safe, vegan and cruelty-free vibrators.

What are the mental and physical health benefits of sexual pleasure?
