For more than seven decades, this founding principle has remained at the heart of UNCF. In that time UNCF has raised more than $5 billion and helped more than 500,000 students to not just attend college, but thrive, graduate and become leaders.
UNCF awards 10,000 student scholarships each year and provides financial support to 37 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and is America’s leading advocate for the importance of minority education and community engagement.

THE INNOCENCE PROJECT
The Innocence Project aims to exonerate the innocent through DNA testing and reform the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice, and advocate for reforms that help prevent and address wrongful conviction.
The Innocence Project's mission is to free the staggering number of innocent people who remain incarcerated, and to bring reform to the system responsible for their unjust imprisonment.

ANTIRACIST RESEARCH AND POLICY CENTER
The mission of the BU Center for Antiracist Research is to convene varied researchers and practitioners to figure out novel and practical ways to understand, explain, and solve seemingly intractable problems of racial inequity and injustice. Whereas racist research historically has posed the question “What is wrong with people?” antiracist research now asks a different question, a better question: “What is wrong with policies?”. The center’s approach of framing research on race and racism around antiracist questions leads to antiracist narratives, effective policy solutions, and impactful advocacy campaigns that cut to the root of racial inequality: racist policy.

EQUAL JUSTICE INITIATIVE
The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society. They are a nonprofit organisation that provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced or abused in state jails and prisons. The Equal Justice Initiative challenges the death penalty and excessive punishment whilst also working to provide re-entry assistance to formerly incarcerated people.
