What’s the theme?
Issue 19 is all about ESCAPISM. This is your opportunity to get creative and explore what the word means to you. To get the ideas flowing, start thinking about what you turn to when you’re seeking escapism; explore how you’ve found comfort in escaping to other worlds or places, real or imagined. Escapism can be a form of self-care and a way to ignite your own creativity, so we encourage you to lean into this and allow yourself to be guided by those creative impulses. If you can’t find the words, use your art to unleash your inner thoughts. Whatever escapism looks like to you, we want to see it.
How can I get involved?
Are you a student, graphic designer, photographer or artist? Do you DJ, write poetry or illustrate? Then we wanna hear from you!
How to apply:
- Please email your submission to: sheet@urbanoutfitters.com
- Use the subject line: SHEET 19 ESCAPISM
- Include your name and pronouns.
- All successful creatives will receive a fee for their submission and be featured in print, with the chance to appear in our online and IRL exhibitions.
- FYI due to the quantity of submissions, we will only be able to respond to successful applicants.
What are the submission guidelines?
SHEET is a print magazine; therefore, all work must be submitted in a printable format.
Please submit high-resolution JPEG or PDF files of at least 300dpi+.
- Artwork should fit within 323mm x 548mm.
- After the front cover slot? The dimensions are slightly slimmer at 545mm x 290mm in landscape.
- For written work, please submit as a Word document or PDF.
All work must be your own and not use or include any licensed imagery. Your submission will be rejected if it includes any of the below:
- Offensive language
- Inflammatory/defamatory content
- Imagery of smoking or drug and alcohol use
- Political symbols
The Opportunity
As well as featuring in the magazine, we are always evolving the ways we can showcase artist’s work through paid opportunities such as limited edition graphic tees, posters, window installations and murals. Successful applicants may also be contacted to create content that will promote your work via our social channels and Culture platform.
What is SHEET?
SHEET is a magazine designed by the UO Community for the UO Community. Featuring a collaborative range of art, posters, prints and articles, SHEET is an eclectic mix of creative work, assembled together by our EPIC Graphics and Creative Marketing Teams at UO Head Office. Available for free in our stores, use SHEET to keep up to date with the latest goings on at UO, get inspired and repurpose the pages to decorate your space.
