Where did your art and design journey begin and what inspires you to create?
I started drawing from a young age and was lucky enough to take lots of art classes at school. I originally went to college for Apparel Design and loved creating my own surface patterns which led me to a degree in graphic design. My graphic design studies and career work resulted in starting my own business selling my designs. I’m very inspired by 70s design and vintage fashion. I love positive and happy quotes that I can create with hand lettering and anything colorful and bold!

Tell us about the creative process behind your prints… I normally start my design process with browsing Pinterest, instagram, and Dribbble to gather some inspiration. This can be anything from other design work, photos, interior design, color palettes and quotes. I have a list on my phone where I will write down ideas as I always have multiple projects happening at once. The next step is gathering reference images and sketching in Procreate. I will then draw out my design - normally in a script calligraphy pen on Procreate in black. I will then fill my design in with color, add shadows or texture and export to Photoshop.

How do you know when a piece is done?
My brain works in a checklist form. Once I check each box in my head I feel as if it is done.

Sum up your artistic style in 3 words… colorful, vintage and happy.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
To always be yourself! If you show the world the real you then they will relate to it! If you are trying to be someone else or to copy others you will not be very successful.

Which emerging artists or artworks should we check out?
I have been really loving Ash + Chess @ashandchess on Instagram lately - their work is very inspiring to me as we definitely fit in the same genre. Berlin Michelle @berlinmichelleart is also an account that I love to watch because they also love creating zodiac sign artwork. Both artists have the following and body of work I aspire to have!
