UO Hidden Neighbourhoods Episode 1 Ft. Levi's
This summer, we’re exploring the areas loved by our UO Community. For our first episode of UO Hidden Neighbourhoods, we’ve teamed up with Levi’s for a day trip with Lucy @lucepemberton and Faye @fayeomm as they document their favourite spots in West London. Discover their go-to patisserie and best vintage shops. Get out there and tag us in your #UOHiddenNeighbourhoods.
Tell us who you are and what Hidden Neighbourhood you chose?
Lucy: I specialise in creative direction and merchandising but I also make jewellery! I have lived in London for 4 years now and have moved 5 times. From south, to east, to north and now west London. I guess you could say I have experienced London anticlockwise. I’ve never really felt settled in any of my previous areas, but west really is proving to be best. My neighbourhood is on the doorstep of Portobello Road and Golborne Road. From independent coffee shops, to long standing family-run bakeries and vintage 70s furniture being sold on the pavements, my neighbourhood is full of life and happy faces. There are plenty of spots to spend a lazy afternoon strolling about.
Faye: I’m Faye and I also chose Notting Hill and the Westbourne Park area as my hidden neighbourhood!
One place to go that's a must visit?
F: Definitely Lisboa Patisserie on Golborne Road. The whole vibe of the place is amazing - it feels like you’re in a lil’ European café in the 80s. The pastries are literally to die for, I always get a Strawberry tart.
L: No words can quite describe how sensational this spot is, I strongly encourage you to go visit. And if you do decide to visit, you MUST get a freshly baked custard tart and a chocolate croissant. I wish I could go back and experience my first bites all over again. Lisboa was the first place I visited in my area when I moved. I went with my brother and we sat out front with a box full of pastries, it was the first time I felt at home in London.
Tell us something about the area that you only know by being a local…
F: Portobello Market is so much better on a Friday for clothes. Plus Portobello Road is famous for a lot of things, but they have some of the best ice cream in West London! I got a strawberry sorbet and it was super tasty and refreshing, 100% needed after a cute day in the sun.
L: The juice stall on market days has the best and freshest strawberry juice ever.

What do you love about your neighbourhood?
F: I love how romantic areas of Notting Hill can be, everywhere is full of beautiful architecture and plants. I love walking around and looking at all the pretty buildings.
L: I instantly felt at home when I moved here. Everyone is so friendly and happy to see you. I love how authentic each shop and restaurant is too, still run by original owners and families. I love my neighbourhood because of the people and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
Describe the atmosphere of your neighbourhood in 3 words…
F: Cultural, beautiful, community.
L: Homey, romantic, chilled.
Advice to someone visiting your neighbourhood for the first time…
F: Try to avoid the tourist traps and try the local food as it’s so good!
L: Don’t come with a plan, just stroll about and take it easy.
Briefly describe your route through the neighbourhood for someone who has never been before..
F: Take the Hammersmith & City or Circle line and get off at Westbourne Park station. Head over to Golborne Road, it’s super easy to find, just follow Trellik Tower. Then walk down Golborne Road, across the bridge and eventually you’ll hit Portobello Road!

What's your go-to Levi's fit right now?
F: I’m obsessed with the Levi’s Sketch Artist 90s 501 Jeans!
L: For sure the Levi's 501 Women's 90s Jeans with a cropped light jacket and loafers.
How do you style your Levi's for a day exploring in your neighbourhood?
F: I love wearing Levi’s with little top and chunky loafers!
L: A fit that works from morning coffee to evening drinks. The straight, low rise look of the Levi's 501 Women's 90s Jeans keep things casual but put together with a simple top, and then the loafers just make it work for any occasion.
Best vintage shops in Portobello Road?
F: I love One Of A Kind on Portobello. It’s kind of like a collection of super rare archive vintage pieces that you wouldn’t really have the opportunity to see otherwise. It’s honestly a mini museum. Also try Rellik Vintage which is just round the corner. It’s filled with so many rare true vintage pieces. We love looking around and trying on whatever we can - especially the sunglasses.
L: I couldn’t tell you specific shops but on market days independent stalls such as Wings Vintage, Fang Ldn, Studio Solaris have the best stock.
Best vintage find?
F: I found a pair of 90s Jimmy Choo stiletto boots in a charity shop on Portobello Road once for £15!
L: I found a fendi bag for £30.
What's your coffee order?
F: Oat latte
L: Oat flat white
Flare or straight leg?
F: A flare is always fun but I’m a sucker for a straight leg.
L: 100% Straight leg.
Low-rise or high-rise?
F: Low-rise. Always.
L: LOW! High-rise makes me feel slightly on edge.
70s or 90s?
F: 90s of course!
L: Hmm, both! I appreciate both eras in many different ways from style to music.
Portobello Road or Golborne Road?
F: I have to say Portobello.
L: I want to say both again but if I had to pick, Golborne because I can see it from my balcony and Lisboa is on it!
