About EveryYouth
EveryYouth is a small UK-wide charity that has a big impact. They are solution focussed and have an unwavering commitment to helping young people overcome homelessness. They know young people need more than a roof to achieve social mobility and build a positive future.

In 2014 they created a movement of leading frontline charities who wanted to collaborate to end youth homelessness. In 2023 this movement became EveryYouth, a charity that helps the most disadvantaged young people get on with their lives.

What They Do
EY works towards 4 main targets: housing, health, work and prevention to ensure a positive future for homeless young people.

Housing
To end youth homelessness in the long term, young people need to be provided with a safe place to call home. By having a secure base, this allows them to start the on-going support to help them overcome issues they face.

• 122,000 young people approached their local authority last year because they were homeless or at a serious risk.

Health
The physical and mental health of homeless young people is one of the most pressing issues EY supports. Issues with physical and mental health can lead to further struggles with education, employment and independence. Ensuring young people can access the NHS and other health services is extremely important.

• More than 80% of homeless young people have a diagnosed mental health problem. 31% have a physical health problem. 18% have attempted suicide.

Work
EY helps young people acquire the skills they need to have an independent life. From education to their career they support people whose unstable living conditions have resulted in dropping out of school or college, completing fewer qualifications and not having the opportunity to gain work experience. EY supports young people’s dreams and talents to allow them to achieve their own goals and secure employment.

• £23 can provide a young person with an hour of advice from a specialist coach.

Prevention
EY helps at-risk young people and their families to overcome problems before they reach crisis point by providing support, mediation, education and the right person to talk to.

The main causes of youth homelessness are:

1. Parents, other relatives or friends no longer willing or able to accommodate a young person (54%)
2. Landlords terminating rental agreements (12%)
3. Violent breakdown of a relationship involving a partner (10%)
