Meet Axel Balazsi, Contemporary Artist
Get to know Contemporary Artist, Axel Balazsi. Here Axel talks us through his unique interpretation of every day objects and the creative process he undergoes to satisfy his artistic vision.
“I started to paint as a teenager. I began painting with collage and lots of colour but felt that was an obstacle for me to get over and i wanted to push my artistic practice further and work with space, daily objects and sculptures. I was drawn to DIY and exploring with objects we use everyday. I like to get obsessed by something, I start drawing it and build a language around it. Start to build a language around it and sometimes its a failure or its a success. It can be rooted in a very simple idea, I like objects which propose a function but if you remove their functionality they’re just a statement or symbol. Take a padlock for example; I thought this was an interesting object to discover as its suppose to keep us away but also can let you in. It’s both privacy and access but when you take it apart it’s mechanical. It allows you to see things differently.”
