When it comes to jewelry, we can't help but feel that the bigger, the better.  So, when we saw Debra Baxter's Crystal Bomb collection, we couldn't help but get excited over the massive pieces.  If you've ever seen her Crystal Brass Knuckles, you'd already know how great this collection is without even having to look.

Levi's Bike Shop Tour: Capricia Rae

Get to know the members of the Levi's Bike Shop Tour. Today meet the tailor, Capricia!

Can you tell us a little bit about you?
I'm Capricia Rae from Seattle, WA and I'm 25-years-old.  I like Disneyland, ballet, tacky shirts with cats on them, and burritos.

When did you learn to ride a bike?
I think I was about seven or eight, and I learned to ride on my cousin's bike in my aunt's driveway. I specifically remember running head-on into a wooden telephone pole.

What was your first bike?
Three words: purple, banana-seat, rainbows.

What drew you to tailoring?
I've been sewing so long, though for awhile, I didn't really think to do anything with it professionally. I actually wanted to be in illustration (I blame Disney) or veterinary science. In my junior year of high school, I ended up taking a set and costume design class and thought, "This is what I want to do." After that, I took a few more sewing classes as well as clothing construction classes and I ended up really loving it.

How long have you been sewing?
My grandmother taught me to sew by hand when I was very young. I used to make little stuffed bears out of old socks. I graduated to machine-sewing when I was 12-years-old in home economics class. I obviously made the best looking pajama pants, ever! After high school, I attended community college sewing classes before attending FIDM in California where I continued to study art history, color theory, illustration, and fashion history. Back in Boston I starting working with Bless by Bless Couture. Bless became a source of inspiration for me, as he is a very selfless person involved in a lot of charity events. I worked as a design assistant but was also helping with vendors, party setup, model searching, and styling outfits for the shows.

What do you enjoy designing most?
I like designing accessories. I think they cater to my instant/faster gratification bug. And I'm an accessory hoarder.

What does bicycling demand from a tailor?
Everything just needs to be more durable. Living around/with cyclists has taught me that construction needs to be reinforced, double-stitched, and have multiple layers. I find it's helpful to also use heavy duty thread, even on small repairs.

What is the craziest thing you've ever made?
A gold lamé sweetheart-bodiced dress. I like to pretend it was for the holidays, but really, I wish someone would wear it in everyday life.

Who are your favorite designers?
Alexander McQueen, mainly for his showmanship. Betsey Johnson, because she is a little crazy and that makes her a little more amazing. Gary Graham, for mixing grungy layers and textures, but still remaining a little girly.

So, why this Bike Shop tour?
I'm excited to see the country and meet people everywhere. I love bicycle culture and I think this project spreads a positives message which is pretty awesome.

What does "Get in the Saddle" mean to you?
Being confident and taking charge of your situation—whether it's fixing your own clothes or working on your own bike. "Get in the Saddle" isn't just about commuting by bike, it's a way to think about starting anything.

Actual Pain Spring 11

Frenzy is the best word I could use to describe how people feel when there's a new Actual Pain collection. No other label has such a cult following and with good reason as everything they do is mind-blowing. You'll especially love the above video for the release. X - Jen
