Check out this video that James Franco's new endeavor, Rabbit TV, made about our friends that were part of the "Good As New" exhibition at the Ed Varie Gallery. What made this exhibition special was that it came together when Vancouver based photographer David Ziber talked about his 'dream exhibition' in an interview with the website On White Walls. Read the story of it's inception here. Congratulations guys! - Jennilee
We always thought Annie Erin Clark looked a lot like a porcelain doll, but St. Vincent's new video for "Cheerleader" proves that she was one all along.
The Tom FordAW11 collection is now all over the internet and beyond but I can't stop obsessing over the Kidassia fur coat. When I found out it was a mere $14K, not a huge deal, is possibly when I realized I may just have to stick to TF Beauty. X - Jen
I die for 'leather jacket #5' in purple from BLK DNM! I am, in fact, quite enamored with this label as of late. I mean, have you also seen the goat suede cape?! X - Jen
Attention all zinesters! Museum of Modern Art in NYC is having an exhibition called Print Studio (4 West 54th St) right now. My fav thing to do there is to peruse the photo books from the Reanimation Library, make photocopies, and then go back into the images, manipulating them with an acetone transfer pen. There will be demos and workshops there and everything is totally free. It's open Wednesday through Monday from 11am-4pm and runs until March 9. -Maggie Lee
Harry and Harry of The Harrys are the creators of the second Crush video "10SNE1?". Find out what their favorite sandwiches are, who they're constantly crushing on, and why Erik is playing tennis all alone.
Introduce yourselves!
Our names are Harry. One of us is browner than the other; one of us has larger ears. We can both agree on liking sandwiches (in general) though one of us is a meatball hero kind of guy, the other a prosciutto, asiago and fig spread kind of guy.
How did The Harrys come together? We grew up together in the same building and had a lot of play dates. Now we make videos together.
What was the inspiration behind "10SNE1?", the Crush video you made for us?
We liked the idea of a guy playing tennis against himself because that’s how we feel everyday.
Tell us about Erik, the tennis player. We met Erik in Ohio but he now lives under the Long Island Expressway.
How about the grandma in the video? That’s Bernadette Coughlin, she’s a method actor who has been preparing for the role in our video for 85 years.
What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get the attention of a crush? We killed a homeless man and ate his heart. JK, we didn’t eat the heart.
Who are your crushes, past and present? Can we say Susan Sarandon for both?
Describe the perfect Valentine's Day date. It involves a sea bass and a smooth surface.
Give us your best pick-up line! Girl, I’ll make your tuna melt.
What will you be doing on Valentine's Day? One of us will be with his girlfriend, the other hopelessly alone.
Look through the eyes of William Strobeck in his new film, My Lovely Mess. His besties Chloë Sevigny, Natasha Lyonne and Alex Olson are some who star in this short. I like to think about the way they look at him as well. There's no acting and these shots are all so special. The framing is classic Strobeck. -Maggie Lee
We love the way that Lauren Clay brings her work to life. Her papier-mâché sculptures look almost identical to her drawings. Lauren, teach us your ways!
A lot of my friends have been making some rad experimental films and I wanted the world to know. So, I curated a night of shorts called Video Syrup. There will be an array of classic and rare footage. Also, artists Tara Sinn and William Strobeck will premiering new work, huzzah! It's this Tuesday, January 24 at Spectacle Theater (124 S.3rd & Bedford) in NYC. -Maggie Lee
Listening to Class Actress always makes us super excited for the weekend, and watching the video for "Bienvenue" is no different. We're ready to do our hair, pick out a killer outfit and make out with a hottie in public. TGIF!
Fashion collections have always drawn inspiration from religion, but JF and Sons is taking it one step further and actually selling religious fashion—nuns' habits, to be exact. But not just any habit—very fashionable habits produced by artist Julia Sherman for the Community of Compassion, an Anglican Catholic order in Fort Worth, Texas. So even if you aren't into sporting a habit of your own, it's a pretty interesting concept. (Via The Paris Review.)
Jagger: Rebel, Rock Star, Rambler, Rogue is a must for long time fans or those fresh into the Stones. It's sort of a response to Keith's book, Life. Spitz poses the famous question of who would you rather be—Mick or Keith—and kind of explains away why your answer should totally be Jagger! X - Jen
Art student Lauren Poor's photographs are colorful and unexpected, usually incorporating handmade props, painted bodies, religious iconography and a sort of outsider-art sensibility. Her highly stylized and experimental approach definitely makes her an artist to watch! - Hazel
